Firefighters battle six-alarm blaze at West Roxbury apartment building

Firefighters are battling a six-alarm blaze Saturday morning at a large multi-unit apartment building in West Roxbury, according to the Boston fire department.

The fire, fueled by a gas leak, began at the three-story building at 1212 Veterans of Foreign Wars Parkway just before 6 a.m., and firefighters called six alarms within an hour.

Firefighters found a heavy fire blazing when they arrived on scene, Boston fire tweeted.
